Binswanger was also involved in intellectual opposition to the protests. In this interview for New Ideal by Ben Bayer, Dr. Binswanger will recount his obs...

The Galileo Affair
Переглядів 2 тис.День тому
By Dan Schwartz The Galileo Affair is widely viewed as the classic example of a scientific genius being persecuted by religious dogmatists. Yet, in recent decades, some philosophers and historians of science have put forward a new interpretation that defends the Church’s position philosophically and puts (at least some of) the blame for the conflict on Galileo. Is there any merit to this view? ...

The left’s only argument is violence.
Almost at the end of 50lecture marathon!
fixed it for you "Today’s Universities Don’t Care"
Great Woman
Ayn Rand prophesying with unerring accuracy university rebellions of the past and their meanings with what is going on at the present time. Love her. Let's hope the US stands up against this one, too.
I love Ayn❤
Great Short.
Thanks
At 29:30 I don't understand how "All S is not P" can be an amphibilus statement. He says one of the meanings could be "Some S is not P and some S is P" but I don't see it. For instance "All crows are not White" seems to me to be saying "No crow is white". How could anybody interpret that as "Some crows are not white and some crows are white"? Can anyone provide an example?
Actually I am able to see it now. If person A says "All crows are white" and person B responds "All crows are not white". Does person B mean "Not All crows are white" (i.e. Some S is and Some S is not) or do the mean "No crow is white"?
Such a deceiver!
Ayn rand never deceived anyone, she educated people to have a set of principles that would not allow them to be manipulated or forced into giving up their freedom to someone who wished for the control and power over others.
This history in this war is confusing to a lot of people but archeological findings speak different than y’all words and beliefs. I ponder on this claim, if you are Muslim you can be palestinian but if you are Christian or Jew you are not. So is this war about religion and jihad Islamic control or about something else ?
Usa created fake Israel like created fake kosovo stilling from Serbia.
Where is Israel from 1945? Newer exist.
Actually thank for this information but you got something real wrong in this discussion. These people you’re calling Palestinians are actually Arabs from the region. The British empire called the area palestine and Arafat being an egiptian called them Palestinians, but they area has always historically and archeologically been Israel the holy land.
So, you guys are trying to establish that Palestinians homes are not being taken for new Jewish settlements? That is a fundamentally flawed premise.
Learn the context. Israel has only seized land as a consequence of the Islamist "Palestinians" attacking Israeli civilians without any legitimate provocation. That is a legal acquisition of land under the international laws of war. If the Arabs weren't attacking Israel, they wouldn't be losing land. Once the land legally belongs to Israel, they have the right to do with it whatever they want, including building towns. You're making a fallacious argument to say that Israel is taking the land for the purpose of building new towns on it. The purpose for seizing the land, and what that land is later used for are two completely separate things.
@@lennardchurch8483 Right, now explain why they are also seizing Palestinian Christian homes.
I loved everything they talked about. I always wanted to hear more about this since it's kind of back in the news today
Great discussion, thank you!
Milton was extraordinarily gifted as well as having a unique ability to communicate economic ideology in a way that the majority could understand. The broadcasts Free to choose are a good example of this.
The Berkely "rebellion" was late to the game. In early 1953, while I was a Senior at De La Salle Academy, Newport, RI there were similar student riots in France, which were shown on the nightly news for a few weeks. Some of the commentators, while giving mild disapproval of the riots, praised the students for being activ, stating that, in comparosn, American students were slackers. In my school, the senior classes did a two-week long improvised parodyof all of this. Because of my red sports jecket (we wore jackets and ties to school), I was chosen to be a "Soviet Colonel [SOME of us knew the score]". It was at these student riots that the "peace" symbol was created. These were the "nuclear disarmament" demonstrations . I was probably one of the first persons in the US to display that symbole (which, it being a s Soviet Colonel, some of us REALLY knew the score). What really made my act whas this. During the Cuban missile Crises, they were selling full, plastic face masks of Khrushchev. I had a suit the same color as the grey one that he usually wore, One day I came in wearing that suit and the mask with the "peace" symbol, proclaiming "peace and justice: A 'peace' of what you have justice soon as we can" in my best Russian accent. The faculty did not interfere since they knew we were playing it for laughs and I was right on the money: That French rebellion was so Commie I could see it from the Andromeda Galaxy. So, by 1965, American Students were late to the game
35 years gone what a tragedy
Was this in response to the recent 'Zionists don't deserve to live' occupation? Of course not- this was 55 years ago. Somethings never change.
Very timely.
Clarification- the communists were on campuses for years before the occupation but got no traction. It was the ramp up of the draft that turned kids to the communist orgs because the y had organized a fight against the war and draft. Objectivists were against the WAR and the DRAFT. No war (actually no draft) and the communists would have been a minute group. Other than that, I agree the student/communist vandalism, kidnapping, and destruction was wrong and counter productive.
I always wonder why nobody mentions that Israel still is a very diverse country, with Arabs, Jews, Druse and Bedouin people living side by side. We often went to Arab villages, because they had the best Baklava. I do not like the politics of the Israeli government and a lot of things went terribly wrong. But I kind of think that the people would get along. Especially in the north where I visited for a research project (in biology). But the map looks like there are only Jews on the white part and that is far from the truth.
Ominous precedent, indeed.
I don't believe in a blood magic resurrectionist death cult. There have been many down the human timeline, Jesus Christ the most recent. If you study religion and the origin of it, as well as it's association to myth in antiquity, you can start to see how man invented it, how it was shaped by humans down the historical record. When a god comes down and talks to me, I will believe he exists. But I will not believe because someone shows me block text on a white page and insists. I also won't look into a turd, see 5 raisins and screech "It's a sign!!!". Collectivist schizophrenia makes the world a far worse place to be in.
HELL NO, THEY DID NOT......PERIOD. So sit down and shut the F up.
Thank you for creating this
Stunning that the University policies have not changed since 1968 nor has the academic environment. The faculty intellectuals have converted to full communism. It’s a tragedy.
Reported for misinformation and racism.
The jews in Palestine except about 20 families in 1892 where Palestinian jews, the rest are refugees from Europe which started in 1894, not 2 years after the last witch trials, The garbage spewed in this video goes way beyond racial discrimination and racism, Religion has no land rights.
STUDENT STUPIDITY NOT REBELLION!
This should not have been released as audio, but as a written essay. No one loves Ayn Rand more than I do (ok, maybe Dr. Peikoff and Harry Binswanger do), but her voice on this recording is very hard to listen to. It becomes a distraction from the meaning of her words. Her talks at the Ford Hall Forum are a pleasure to listen to. I don't know what it is about this particular broadcast that is not right, but it hurts my ears.
Released as a broadcast has its own value, for me. The slow pacing drives home the message of each phrase and obliges the listener to pay attention to the meaning of every word. It avoids the distraction of a quick and superficial read-through, in search of bytes. Delivery is deadly, detached, and very effective. It is appropriate for the seriousness of the content presented in the audio portion of the UA-cam format.
I thought this was great
@@joanr3189 I wish I knew why it bothers me. It must be a personal thing, but the negative effect is so extreme that I don't want to listen to this all the way through in order to try to find out what the problem is. If others get value from it, great. I just know that normally, listening to her reading the alphabet would be relaxing and a joy, and this really hit a nerve. It has nothing to do with her or the content, it's something to do with the audio, with the mechanics.
Outstanding and very informative video Thank you
Ultimately, if everyone was self interested in a broader sense, people (and corporations) wouldn’t cheat people. When she says self interest, she doesn’t just mean getting what we want right now in a hedonistic way. Ultimately, doing right by other people is in even the most selfish asshole’s best interest. The fact that people use and abuse people is due to short sightedness, ultimately.
Stop complaining. These modern young protesters have been taught since first grade about Anne Frank, the Holocaust, evil Nazis and bad Columbus. From Day 1 they've been trained to oppose genocide. They are heroes.
Sadly the protesters at Columbia today are far more ignorant and evil than the ones from the 60’s. Today we have students cheering on and rooting for the modern equivalent of Nazi SS soldiers slaughtering Jews. ( Hamas )
Peterson has literally list his mind in the last few years
Binswanger is such a boss.
1968 Columbia dark ages.
3rd!!! And proud!
Her view on faith was misinformed
Second and very proud!
35:30 you can see Binswanger's cat

Jaques fresco's speaks more sence than her. Research jaques fresco's lectures in depth and i mean in depth. This shits got to go put that in your search bar please.
Most college students in pro-Hamas demonstrations have not seen Hamas footage of Oct 7th.
They absolutely do not care in the slightest.
she was a pro-war neo-con
Thanks!
